Programmes for young people in the UK

Headstart is our flagship two-day, interactive programme designed for those about to graduate or who have yet to find a job after doing so. It provides focused, pragmatic advice and practical support to stand out from their peers and get that first job.

How we will help you get your first good job

Day 1: Making the most of what you have done so far

  • What employers are looking for
  • Identifying your strengths
  • Transferring those strengths to your CV
  • Handling weapons of mass rejection
  • Networking and how to write a good covering letter
  • Goal setting

Day 2: Interviewing skills

  • How to cope with competency based interviews
  • Strengths based interviews
  • Preparation and planning
  • Mock-interview and example questions

This day is interactive using video and camera feedback.

Following completion of the programme Lifestep alumni will be offered an interview with a leading recruiter in London. With strong links to well-established companies, we are able to secure work experience, internships or a full-time job after successful completion of the Headstart programme.

Over 75% of the students who have attended this programme now have jobs.

The cost of the Headstart programme is for day one £230, day two £295 and for both days we offer a reduced rate of £475 which includes all food and refreshments.

Dates:

13 – 14th December

“Overall, I would wholeheartedly recommend Lifestep to any graduates before embarking on the search for a job. I think that going to see them has undoubtedly helped me obtain the job I wanted by giving me a powerful CV and made me a more effective interviewee.” Recent graduate, Oxford Brookes University

“Admittedly, I went into the Headstart programme with a degree of cynicism – what could I possibly learn that 18 years of education hadn’t already taught me? A huge amount, apparently! Lifestep is perfectly positioned to help anyone looking to motivate themselves, achieve goals, succeed in difficult interviews or to make themselves more employable in general.

The team and speakers are impressive, experienced and have plenty of wisdom to share. I would recommend Lifestep to anyone wanting to become more employable and get the edge over everyone else in these difficult times.” Recent graduate, Leeds University, now employed

“I was sceptical before I attended Headstart, being an ignorant graduate I believed that I did not need any help. How wrong I was and I have informed my friends not to make the same mistake”. Recent graduate, Newcastle University
